After documenting my first 48 hours in New York here, I’ve rounded up the second section in this post below! I’ve decided to start it from our check-in at The London NYC, our second hotel of the trip that my pal Katie actually won in a competition, and sparked the beginning of our trip to New York.
The hotel was super fancy, and we had a suite with a gorgeous living area with a bay window, two TVs, a walk-in wardrobe and the most beautiful marble bathroom complete with double shower.
After we’d checked in and had another pit stop we headed off to Dough doughnuts and then sat in Central Park in the afternoon to watch the ice skaters in the skating rink. I chose the cinnamon sugar doughnut and iced coffee which made the perfect afternoon snack, and technically fed me up for lunch as the doughnuts at Dough are absolutely huge.
Day 3 – Evening
As it was Halloween weekend when we were there, that evening was a fancy dress party we’d pre-booked at a rooftop bar called Salvation Taco, that boasted unlimited margaritas and tacos for a special Halloween party. Despite major jet lag, we powered through – for the sake of the free drinks, and enjoyed the view of New York at night.
Day 4 – Morning
Our Sunday started off early again – thank you jet lag! – where we set off back to Soho again. The place we had originally planned for brunch was closed, and luckily we stumbled across The Grey Dog – one of my favourite spots of the trip. It was so homely and friendly inside, and the portions we had were huge and yet really reasonably priced (in comparison to the other meals we’d had…). I had a huge breakfast complete with eggs, sausage, tots and then French toast topped with fruit and maple syrup – a breakfast pudding if you will.
Next stop – as it was torrential rain – we headed to Greenwich market, a shopping spot that I’d never visited before, but was filled with good looking food spots in addition to Artists and Fleas – a little shopping market inside. I then took the chance to hit all the shops (Sephora, CVS, Duane Reade etc) for the last time and pick up sweet treats for my family and some goodies for myself (hellooooo New York Diptyque candle).
And there we have it, another part of my New York trip done. I hope you enjoyed this middle part, and are eagerly awaiting the third and final section tomorrow.
